The first mentions of an eagle in the city of Vic date back to 1601.

It was built to celebrate the festivities of the canonization of Saint Raymond of Penyafort. The owners and carriers were the guild of “Aloys”. The last mention dates from a municipal document of 1737.

The Eagle is the most complex, the most symbolically complete, and the one that has the most solemn role because it fulfills the maximum representative function. On the one hand, it represents the people and, on the other, it acts on behalf of the institution.

The current Eagle has two heads. The heads represent the power of the Church and the civil power that governed the city until 1315. At that time, the bishop was lord of the part of the city known as partida jussana and the other part belonged to the comital power.

You can see the Eagle dance at the Corpus exit, at the Festa Major of Vic, and at the floral offering at the Bac de Roda plaque on September 10. The Eagle is carried by the Eagle bearers group.
